Rugby-playing solicitor Shannon Bell has returned to her roots after becoming the latest
recruit for a growing North Yorkshire law firm.
The 29-year-old former Richmond School student, originally of Brompton-on-Swale, started
work at Scotts Hall & Birtles last week.
Mrs Bell previously worked for Teesside firm Punch Robson having qualified beforehand at
Hunton & Garget in Richmond.
But she said she was convinced to join Scotts Hall & Birtles because of their progressive
working policies.

She said: “I knew the team from my time working in the area and actually wouldn’t have
considered anywhere else.
“They put an emphasis on work-life balance which is really important to me.”
Mrs Bell joins the private client team, working on probate, Wills and Lasting Powers of
Attorney.
She said: “It’s not just office-based, I might be visiting clients in hospitals or care homes, or
out in the community speaking to clients at different stages of life, at different ages, or with
different financial backgrounds.
“I like the challenge that the variety brings and I find it rewarding to help vulnerable clients.”
The University of Nottingham graduate is also a fully accredited member of STEP, a
professional body that certifies experts in inheritance and succession planning.
Outside of work, Mrs Bell plays rugby across the region, previously with Acklam and now
with Darlington Rugby Club.
A late convert to the game, the centre/fly-half took an interest in the Women’s Rugby World
Cup held in 2022 and never looked back.
She added: “I just thought I’d give it a go, now I love the game.”
