Trainee solicitor Kelly Pierson is preparing for a busy end to her summer with a Great North Run attempt coming just weeks before the completion of her training contract at Scotts Hall & Birtles (SHB).

The 24-year-old former Richmond School and Darlington QE College student is embracing the pressure. She said: “I work hard - growing up around farms instills that in you.”

Kelly, who works mainly in our Leyburn offices, is using her half marathon attempt to raise money for Cancer Research UK, having seen several family members affected by the illness.

“We are so grateful,” she added. “Cancer Research UK is a good cause, and this is the right time.”

Kelly, of East Appleton, near Catterick, works in the residential property law team at SHB, which also has offices in Hawes and Richmond.

She gained an Integrated Masters Degree in Law at Northumbria University in 2024 and began her training contract here in October that year. She is due to qualify as a solicitor on October 1.

Steve Scott, managing director at SHB, said: “We are all so proud of Kelly for what she gives to her work, her studies, and especially her fundraising. She’s a credit to the firm and to her family.”
